Longarm Quilting

I own a computerized Grace Q'nique 21 Pro quilting machine on a 12-foot frame.
My machine can quilt any size up to and including a King! I have 127" of quilting space.

I provide precise edge to edge (E2E) designs for your beautiful quilt tops. There are countless designs to choose from
and together we can pick something special to enhance your piecing.
Below are just a few examples; visit my gallery for more.

I charge a minimum fee of $40. This mostly applies to small items like table runners, pillows, and small wall hangings.

Fish quilt

This quilt features an E2E design with meandering, fancy goldfish. I also changed thread colors on the white section and blue section.

Orange peel

E2E quilting in an orange peel design, light gray thread. This quilt has a minky backing, no batting. Very cozy!

Good Fortune

This E2E design is called Marmalade and it's from Urban Elementz. I love the swirls and circles, and I think quilting in this density was good for a top
with so many pieces.

How much will it cost to get my top quilted?

Your cost is based on the actual dimensions of your quilt top and a few other decisions, like which batting to use, the quilting design, and a few other options. I can give you a complete quote before starting, and I do my best to be upfront about the cost.

All machine quilting is priced by the square inch. Scroll down to use our pricing calculator to get an estimate. Minimum charge $40.

Needle & Thread

There is an $10 new needle and thread charge for each quilt top.  This includes Superior brand thread.

What patterns can I choose from?

I have countless designs to choose from! When we talk about your quilt, I can help you choose one of my designs. Alternatively, you may decide to choose a new design from Urban Elementz for a small fee (typically $15). I can get files from other sites, but Urban Elementz is my main source.

To help you choose a design, I will take a picture of your quilt top and email you drawings of at least 3 options, showing what the designs will look like on your quilt. I will also show you samples of thread colors so you can choose that as well.

Batting

Batting and backing needs to be a minimum of 6″ wider and 6″ longer than your top.   If, for example, your top is 50 x 50, you need batting and backing that is 56 x 56.  The extra allows me to have the needed room to attach your quilt to the frame, and you get all the trimmings back. I carry Warm and Natural cotton batting, and Hobbs 80/20 poly/cotton in white and black.  You can supply the batting for your top or buy it from me. I charge what I pay for the batting, so there is no up-charge. You will find my prices to be in line with what you can find in any fabric shop.

Please note:  There are a few battings that are too fragile for use on the longarm.  Please ask me before including your own batting.

Backing

Backing needs to be a minimum of 6″ wider and 6″ longer than your top. Sheets are not the best choice of backing for your handiwork.  If you must send a sheet as a backing, ensure that you have washed it in hot water a number of times to ensure it has shrunk as much as it will. If you piece your backing fabric, remove any selvages before you sew the pieces together as they shrink at a different rate than the rest of the fabric and will cause puckers along the seam. Use a seam allowance BIGGER than the standard 1/4″ piecing seam (I like a 5/8″ seam or so). Press the seams open.

Preparation of backing (if needed) $10/seam

Binding

I offer a complete binding service. I will prepare and attach binding to the front of the quilt by machine from fabric you provide and hand-finish it to the back of the quilt. To figure this cost, multiply the cost of the service you want times the total linear inches of the four sides of your top.   We ask for one yard of uncut fabric to construct the binding.

Machine stitching binding to front of quilt only $ .15/linear inch. (You finish by hand)

Machine stitching binding to front and hand finishing to back of quilt $ .25/linear inch

Make binding out of 1 yard of provided fabric $25

Deposit

I ask for a 50% deposit when you drop off or ship your quilt.

The pricing on this page is for your use to estimate the costs of having your top quilted. Please remember, each quilt is different.  I’ll be happy to provide a free estimate based on the actual needs of your quilt top. Prices subject to change without notice.  Estimates are not contractual bids.  Written estimates are free and are honored for 60 days.
